Block 157 of 368

I am loving the disappearing blocks we are seeing lots of recently.  

This one is the disappearing hourglass.  I found several tutorials on facebook, and this lovely video by our favorite Missouri Quilt Co.

 I used a couple of 5 inch blocks from a charm pack and followed the directions!  Sew, cut, sew again!

For the quilting I elected to highlight the star block created with an echo in a couple of the blocks of the four patch.

Which looks great on the back in a coordinating fabric from the same charm pack.

I would recommend if you do this block for a whole quilt to stick with high value contrasts.  Really dark and really lights.  While I love this look, the resulting pattern gets lost a bit in the print of the batik.
